Orphans Adopted By Foreign Families

The DCY has revealed that lots of Thai children are being adopted by foreign families.

PATTAYA-31th January- [PattayaDailyNews] Mrs.Naha setthakorn- director department of Children and Youth- told Daily News Online about their adoption project.

She added that about 2,000-3,000 children are adopted each year. Some of them have been adopted by their relatives because the parent could no longer look after them. In addition, foreigners have adopted around 300-350 children each year and most have been from American, French, Sweden and Switzerland.

The director said that the children who were abandoned would be transferred by police to Children homes around Thailand. They will then check their information in order to search for their family. If they cannot be found the adoption process will start. There are 4 foundations that adopt children 1.Thai Red Cross Children Home 2.Sahathai foundation 3.Pattaya Orphanage and 4.Friends For All Children Foundation (FFAC).
