Criteria for adopting from Poland

To adopt from Poland you need to fulfil the requirements of both the UK and of Poland.

There is no formal age restriction on the age of prospective adoptive parents but in practice most adopters may be up to 40 years older then the child.

Both married and single people are permitted to adopt from Poland.

At present Poland does not recognise same sex or civil unions although they are going through the legislation to recongise this, but at the momenbt same sex couples cannot adopt from Poland.

There are no residency requirements for prospective adoptive parents.

Although Roman Catholicism is Poland's official religion, non-Catholic prospective adoptive parents are permitted to adopt a child in Poland.
