Eligibility to adopt from Dominican Republic

The Domincan Republic is a Hague Convention Country and they allow adoptions into UK


To adopt from Dominican Republic you must meet the requirements of the UK and of the Dominican Republic.


Age Requirements

Prospective adoptive parents must be between the ages of 30 and 60 years old and must be at least 15 years older then the child they wish to adopt.


Marriage Requirements

Only heterosexual married couples who have lived together for a minimum period of 5 years.

Single individuals and unmarried couples are not permitted to adopt.


Residency Requirements

There is a residency requirement by law which both prospective adoptive parents must comply with. If adopting a child under 12 , cohabitation is at least 45-60 days, if adopting a child over 12 years of age, co-habitation shall be for at least 30 days.
