Russia adoptions closed

Unfortunately adoptions from Russia are not going ahead. Although there is not a blanket ban on overseas adoptions, the Russian goverment does not allow adoptions of their children into countries where they have the same sex marriage law. This is because if an adoption breaks down they have no control of their children being placed in a gay family (which the present regime is opposed to).

As of Jan 2017 there has been some indication that Russia is making some moves to open their intercountry adoption process, sometime in the future. There is nothing certain and it will take a very long time to reverse their standing rulings.
